Rodwell takes
food seriously. Freshest in-season produce is sourced, and is
prepared simply and tastily. The chef is happy to discuss guests’
culinary desires. The finest and most satisfying wines accompany
local treats, with twists from Asia, the Med, or more classic fare.
The romantic period dining room hosts these lingering and
pleasurable evening events.
Sumptuous
breakfasts are enjoyed al fresco overlooking the garden and sea.
Freshly made picnic hampers provide for flexible and intimate
lunches.
There are
weekly BBQ events held on the entertainment terrace. Tastiest of
menus range from just-off-the-boat seafood extravaganzas, to sticky,
spicy rib or chicken affairs, finest Karoo lamb in wild herbs, or
well hung fillets of prime beef. Characterful white and red wines
complement and balance the fine smells, tangy flavours and fresh
air.

Guests who enjoy their wines are in for a treat.
15 000
bottles of wine have been personally selected over the past
decade by the proprietor. Matured private bins, cult and boutique
wines are now available. Great vintages are cellared in refrigerated
and humidity-controlled perfection.
Local wines are
offered in 3 unique ‘terroir’ categories for guests to appreciate
their differences. These are Coastal, Mountain and Inland vineyards.
Close relations with top growers allow guests to select the Cape’s
gems.
Rodwell House
Private Cellar is a modern creation, engineered out of natural
sandstone, designed to provide a sophisticated but user-friendly
experience. Most evenings see informal and fun wine tasting
opportunities that concentrate on select, often comparative, tastes.
Regular events with top wine makers take place, and can be tailored
by request to specific guest interest. Relax in comfort singly or in
groups. Master Classes that provide truly great wines are on offer.
These world class affairs provide memorable and often unique
experiences. Private sommelier dinners in our tasting cellar rooms
can be booked for special functions or celebratory events.
Food and wine
interaction is our passion, and Rodwell encourages maximum enjoyment
at every opportunity. Join the sommelier or owner in the cellars
each afternoon, personally discuss merits and views, and make deeply
satisfying selections, which are then prepared in readiness for
dinner.
Guests will
thoroughly enjoy compelling, sensual and exciting wine and food
pairings. |
